The Healthcare Network Foundation was formed in 2007 to support the programs and services of the Healthcare Network. The Foundation strives to enable the Healthcare Network to meet its mission to provide a quality healthcare home accessible to everyone in our community. We thank you for your support. Role: As a key leadership team member, Dr. Lou Traina manages the foundation’s fundraising and development strategies. He is responsible for establishing funding through the solicitation of major gifts, endowment funds, gift planning programs, capital campaigns and special events

Background: Prior to joining Healthcare Network, Lou was the Vice President Emeritus of Institutional Advancement at Florida Southwestern State College. He served in public and private higher education holding senior positions including campus top executive, foundation executive director, and institutional advancement vice president.  He led several capital campaigns and was the primary solicitor for the naming of the Suncoast Credit Union Arena, Hodges University, Johnson School of Business, Nichols School of Professional Studies, Fischer School of Technology, Gaynor President’s Chair, and the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning.

She was employed for 21 years by nonprofits, first as the Avow Hospice Executive Director, where she was hired to launch this fledgling organization, and later as the Neighborhood Health Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Advancement Officer.  Additionally, she is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor who specializes in individual and group therapy to help clients challenged by life transitions.

Mike Ellis, President and Chief Executive Officer

Background: Healthcare Network President, Mike Ellis, has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in both clinical chemistry and hospital and health administration.

Experience/Role: Mike has 37 years of healthcare experience including seven years as executive director of the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, 15 years executive experience in Community and Migrant Health Centers, and 15 years executive experience in hospital administration. Mike joined the Healthcare Network in 2013 as CEO.

Board Affiliations: Mike is a former member of the Lee Memorial Health System Board of Directors and currently serves on the Lee County Mosquito Control District Commission.
