Mike Ellis new CEO for Healthcare Network

Ellis, MikeThe Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mike Ellis has been unanimously selected as new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Healthcare Network. Formerly Director of Medical Operations for the Healthcare Network, Mike will replace Richard Akin, who has been appointed CEO of Integral Health Plan, a Medicaid health plan sponsored by Healthcare Network. Mike will serve as CEO designate until January 31, 2014, at which time Richard will retire to take on new duties with Integral. Also retiring from the Network is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Weinman, who has served the Healthcare Network for over 29 years.

Under the leadership of Richard and Steve, the Healthcare Network has grown from two trailers housing a small clinic for migrant farm workers in Immokalee to an innovative healthcare provider serving 45,000 people, annually, from 13 locations throughout Collier County. Both of these leaders plan to remain active in the rapidly changing healthcare industry.

Mike has over 35 years of healthcare management, having served as executive director of the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida for seven years and 20 cumulative years executive experience with Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida; University Hospital, the University of Florida affiliate in Jacksonville, FL; Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Dayton, OH.

Please join me and the board in welcoming Mike as our new CEO and best wishes to our former administrators Richard and Steve.
