The Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida is proud to announce that Foundation Executive Director Louis J. Traina, EdD has been named the Fundraising Executive of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Everglades Chapter. Dr. Traina will be recognized during the National Philanthropy Day Celebration at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Eaton Conservation Hall.
Dr. Traina has served in public and private higher education holding positions of university advancement vice president, foundation executive director, and campus president. Earlier in his career, he served as a rehabilitation counselor and staff psychologist caring for mental health, spinal cord trauma, and addiction recovery patients. He is an experienced fundraiser, community leader, and top administrator.
He has led several multi-million dollar campaigns including St. Ann School, Edison State College, and those that brought about the naming of Hodges University, the Kenneth Oscar Johnson School of Business, the Nichols School of Professional Studies, the Fisher School of Technology, the Francis Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning, and the Lavern Norris Gaynor President’s Chair.
He and his wife Meg have two children, John (18) and Julia (16). The Traina family is active in mission work both in their community and the Bahamas serving orphans and at risk children. read more
