The Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Needle as new Chief Medical Officer. Needle will follow former CMO Dr. Jerry Williamson, who served the Network for 16 years. Dr. Needle joined Healthcare Network in July 2007 and practices pediatrics at Children's Care North office on Creekside Parkway in North Naples. He is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD and completed his internship and residency at the New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children, TuftsUniversity in Boston, MA. He has been certified by the American Board of Pediatrics since 1999.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Needle take the lead as our Chief Medical Officer,” says Healthcare Network CEO Mike Ellis. “Dr. Needle has extensive experience in healthcare, medical research and education, but it is his sincere dedication to ensure quality healthcare is accessible to all people that makes him a stand-out in his profession.”
Dr. Needle has given talks nationally about children, disasters and community preparedness, and he has had numerous articles published in the pediatric literature. In 2007, he testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform regarding formaldehyde and FEMA trailers.
As a Fellow of the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics, Dr. Needle has served on numerous councils and sections, including the AAP's Disaster Preparedness Advisory Council. He is on the clinical faculty of Florida State University College of Medicine and will be helping to coordinate medical student rotations in Healthcare Network offices. In addition, has been named one of Southwest Florida's Top Doctors since 2012.
