The Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida welcomes Dr. Rohit Thomas, new Healthcare Informaticist. In this capacity, Dr. Thomas will oversee integration and use of information technology and ways to improve efficiency reduce costs and enhance the quality of patient care. Dr. Thomas comes to the Healthcare Network from the University of Miami, Department of Neurology (Brain Endowment Bank) where he served as an epidemiologist and as a data analyst.
“Dr. Thomas is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in the use of information technology and we are pleased that he has joined our team,” said Healthcare Network CEO Mike Ellis, “His medical experiences in India and Nepal typify our mission of providing quality healthcare accessible to everyone in the community.”
Dr. Thomas holds a medical degree from Universal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal and a Master in Public Health (MPH) from Florida International University, specializing in epidemiology. He is currently pursuing a Master in Health Informatics (MS-HI) from USF, Morsani College of Medicine. As a medical doctor in India and Nepal, Dr. Thomas gained considerable experience in community based micro health projects relating to outbreak investigation and control as well as studies on disease and prevention.
