Larry Allen, vice president of information technology, CIO, Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, was the keynote speaker during the Best Practices Seminar, May 14, hosted by ForeScout Technologies in Orlando, FL. Allen’s presentation addressed the specific security requirements facing today’s medical organizations and the growing challenge of keeping their healthcare networks secure. Doctors, employees, visitors and even patients want access to not only the internet but information and applications from their personally-owned devices. Where access was limited to certain devices like blackberries a few years ago, healthcare IT departments are now expected to provide access to just about every type of device and application.
Allen created two videos and a white paper on the emerging challenges healthcare organizations are facing specifically around bring your own device (BYOD) and how technology can provide a way to deliver flexible access while maintaining strong network security.
