founded in 1977

Collier Health Services, Inc. (d/b/a Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida) was founded as
a nonprofit organization in 1977 by a group of community leaders to address the health
issues of migrant and seasonal farm workers, rural poor and other citizens in Collier County.
Their first facilities were two small trailers in Immokalee. From the start, the nonprofit was
committed to providing basic medical and dental healthcare services at an affordable cost
while ensuring dignity and respect to each individual served.

October 2015  Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida employee Paul Midney, RN received the 2015 Heroes in Healthcare Award for Lifetime Achievement.

September 2015 Healthcare Network receives Excellence in Industry award for "Heart of the Community"

June 2015 Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Chief Medical Officer Dr. Scott Needle named 2015 Top Doctors by Gulfshore Life Magazine. 

September 2014 Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Vice President of Operations Dr. Emily Ptaszek named 2014 Forty Under 40 by Gulfshore Life Magazine. 

July 2014 Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida pediatrician Dr. Alicja Langner was selected for the 2014 Best of Naples Award in the Pediatricians category by the Naples Award Program. Dr. Langner provides pediatric care at HCN’s Children’s Care Central clinic.

June 2014 Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Chief Medical Officer Dr. Scott Needle named 2014 Top Doctors by Castle Connelly Medical Ltd.

May 2014 Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Director of Clinical Operations Ellen Cordoba, BSN, received the 2014 Heroes in Healthcare Award for Nurse's Excellence.

November 2013 The Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida Chief Dental Officer Dr. Kelley Johnson, DMD received the Harold Slavkin Oral Health Science Education Award from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).

Summer 2012 The NCEF Pediatric Dental Center received the William J. Gies Awards for Vision, Innovation, and Achievement and was recognized by the DentaQuest Institute as a Safety Net Solutions Center of Excellence.

January 2006 Collier Health Services, Inc. receives 2006 Harvey Kapnick Award from the Community Foundation of Collier County



1977   Collier Health Services founded; begins offering medical and dental services in Immokalee in two trailers.

1993  Marion E. Fether Medical Center opens in Immokalee, offering family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, dental health and chronic and infectious diseases.

1995-2010  Accredited and reaccredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

1996  Pediatric sites established  from Marco Island to Immokalee, with Board-certified pediatricians, skilled nursing and support staff.

1999   Immokalee Family Care Center opens

2003  Family Care Naples East Center opens as Horizons Primary Care to meet healthcare needs for uninsured and underinsured. Renamed Mike Davis Medical Center in August 2008.

2004  Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program ® launched as a mobile pediatric office to provide children with medical and/or dental care.

2007 (Dec) Collier Health Services Foundation, Inc. formed.

2008  (Feb)  12-chair Countryside Dental Center opens in East Naples

2008 (Oct) Collier Health Services Foundation, Inc. renamed CHS Healthcare Foundation, Inc. (now Healthcare Network Foundation).

2008  (Dec) 17-chair State-of-the-art Pediatric Dental Center, in partnership with Naples Children and Education Foundation and the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry, opens on Edison College-Collier County campus

2009  Pediatric Department moved to newly opened Florida State University (FSU) campus in Immokalee in August.

2010   Integral Quality Care, a Provider Service Network, begins administering Medicaid insurance.

2010  Accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

2011  North Naples Pediatrics office moves to Polaris building, with expanded facilities

2011  Family Healthcare practice expands to North Naples

2012  CHS Healthcare is renamed The Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida

2014 Healthcare Network assumes operational control of the Women’s Health Foundation and services at its location in the Collier Health Department Building H.

2015 Total Women’s Care of Naples joins the Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida family, offering OB/GYN services.

2015: Added Health and Smiles mobile

2015: Senior Friendship Centers and Healthcare Network co-located to the Friendship Health Center to provide adult and geriatric specialty and primary services in the same location.

2016: Added the Nichols Pediatric Center for children's care on the campus of the Naples YMCA.

2016: Expanded adult dental services at Dental Care Central
