Reach out and Read Program

Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida is excited to work with Reach Out and Read (ROR), a non-profit organization, that gives developmentally appropriate books to each child between the ages of 6 months and 5 years of age at well-child visits.

In June 2014, the American Academy of Pediatrics acknowledged the encouragement of literacy as an
"essential component of pediatric care"
for each individual child.

Reach out and Read is proud to offer books in more than 14 different languages. These include: Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Arabic.

Why it's Important

Nearly 90% of brain development happens during the first five years of life. This window is a crucial time for learning. Reach Out and Read serves as a successful tool that allows parents to engage with their children and prepare them to reach their potential in school years and beyond. Children who hear fewer words during their early childhood years tend to fall behind their peers who are read to more.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our Sponsors of the book donation: Germain BMW of Naples, Naples Swim School, Nick Domain, and T2 Aquatics.
